Airport Authority working to attract non-stop flight from San Diego to Germany

The San Diego Regional Airport Authority has started a dialogue with Lufthansa German Airlines to develop non-stop air service between San Diego and Frankfurt, Germany. A non-stop flight to a major European hub with convenient transfer to other European destinations would be a considerable improvement over our current corporate travel options which often include layovers in places like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.  In today’s business environment, we know that time is money and the fewer the layovers, the greater the possibility of arriving at our final destination on time. Unlike prior European service from San Diego, Lufthansa will have the benefit of offering full frequent flyer reciprocity with their US airline partners, United Airlines and US Airways.

.

To win this new route it is imperative that the Airport Authority provides Lufthansa with a profile of the San Diego business traveler. Therefore, we are asking for your help in writing a letter of support which should include an estimate of your company’s trans-Atlantic travel (Europe, Middle East, Africa and India).

.

The Airport Authority is meeting with Lufthansa on May 15. Therefore, we need to act fast.  The Chamber believes that, as San Diego positions itself more and more in the global market, access to international flights becomes very important.  We know you will join us in making this flight become a reality.
