Import-Export Agency Helps Local Businesses Enhance International Trade
The Washington, D.C.-based Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im) of the United States has an office in San Diego that works with local exporters of U.S.-made products to help sustain local jobs. The agency also provides export finance assistance by encouraging banks to do lending, such as loan guarantees and export credit insurance. The agency’s main mission is to support the financing of U.S. goods and services.
Last year, Ex-Im authorized more than $12.1 billion, supporting an estimated export value of $16.1 billion. Ex-Im also created a small-business division to further its outreach of small businesses, authorizing more than $3 billion in small-business transactions, which accounted for 26 percent of total authorizations and 84 percent of the total number of agency’s transactions.
