Chamber Entrepreneurship Training Kicks Off – Registration Still Open! The Chamber’s new entrepreneurship training program kicked off last week with great success. The Sandler Selling System sales training course began on Tuesday, August 26, and the Everyday MBA™ Small Business Booster strategic planning seminar began on Thursday, August 28. Both programs will run for 10 consecutive weeks at the Chamber offices, and are offered free of charge to member businesses with nine or fewer employees.
The Chamber’s goal with this new benefit is to help small business members expand their knowledge base and grow their business. Classes are designed to provide targeted information for small and emerging business owners, with practical examples to will help attendees sustain and grow their business.
The Sandler Selling System course highlights sales techniques, business or client development, and selling weaknesses that can cripple any sales person or business owner. The program is designed to benefit anyone from experienced veterans to new sales associates. Instructor Darren Cecil, President ofSan Diego Sales, Inc., leads the Sandler Sales Institute, which offers ongoing reinforcement coaching & training at USD. He works with clients such as American Express, Qualcomm, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, SeaWorld, and the Padres.
The Everyday MBA™ Small Business Booster course will cover strategic planning & business processes. Every class provides hands-on training on how to tackle the biggest challenges facing small business owners by creating a more strategic and effective business, building loyal customer generating business processes, nurture marketing and improve your time management and leadership skills. This course explores how to maximize resources many small businesses already have in place and don’t even know they have, as well as new no or low cost technology and resources to boost profits. This course is led by Joon Han, the Founder of Better San Diego, where he serves smart business leaders in his role as strategy specialist. It’s his passion to work with leaders to develop and understand solutions so that they “learn how to fish” instead of “just getting a fish for today.” Han also writes the “Small Business Tip of the Week” in Business Online, the Chamber’s monthly e-zine, and facilitates various Chamber workshops and courses.

Relationship First Training will explore customer relationship and retention stills. The course begins Monday, September 8, and runs for 10 weeks (eight sessions with two holiday breaks - Labor Day and Columbus Day). The Wall Street Journal released an article that published this finding: Statistically, 85% of your clients say they buy because of you, not because of your products or services. This interactive workshop tackles the challenge of finding new customers by providing practical tools and advice on developing relationships with prospective customers – and staying connected with them. Join this session for a solid plan to build stronger relationships, and to learn how to define core market strategies, utilize your database to the fullest and effectively network with your target market.
This course will be led by Robert Moberg, President of CT Consulting. Moberg is closely connected to the book “The Referral of a Lifetime,” a Ken Blanchard series, and has been involved with the Referral Institute Training, DISC and GEM Training, and Relationship First Training for the past several years. In addition, Robert enjoys strong business tenure previously holding the position of Vice President with Petco and owner of a thriving consumer products company.
