Public Policy Update

Welcoming Lani Lutar, Vice President of Public Policy

 

The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome Lani Lutar as the new Vice President of Public Policy today, September 2, 2008.  Lutar will oversee the Chamber’s public policy planning and advocacy initiatives and manage governmental affairs.

Lutar formerly served as President and CEO of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association (SDCTA), where she managed public policy and advocacy efforts including research, analysis and lobbying, served as a media spokesperson, and oversaw day-to-day operations of the organization.  Under her leadership, the SDCTA was able to enhance its depth of policy analysis, improved its financial picture and expanded visibility within the San Diego region.

“The Chamber has a long-standing reputation as San Diego's premier business organization,” Lutar said. “I look forward to working with the Chamber team to help San Diego's businesses continue to grow and prosper."

Before joining the SDCTA, Lutar served as Executive Director of the Asian Business Association of San Diego.  Lutar is Vice President of the San Diego Asian Film Foundation board of directors, and is a Next Generation Project Fellow of the American Assembly at Columbia University.  She has had commentary appear in the media including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Diego Union-Tribune, North County Times, San Diego Daily Transcript and voiceofsandiego.org

Lutar holds a Master’s degree in Pacific international affairs from the University of California, San Diego, and graduated magna cum laude from San Diego State University with a BA in psychology.
