President's Update By Ruben Barrales, President & Chief Executive Officer
The Chamber’s 2008 “One Region, One Voice” delegation to Washington, D.C., is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, to Wednesday, September 24, 2008. The trip will bring local business leaders together with federal officials to discuss issues important to the San Diego region, such as transportation, border infrastructure, healthcare, water and energy, and the military.
Last year’s "One Region, One Voice" mission proved to be a successful undertaking, Over 40 Chamber members met with high-level officials and to discuss policies and legislation that would help San Diego’s business community. As a result of last year’s trip, we have increased our role in support of transportation funding and new commercial border crossings, and strengthened our connections with Washington, D.C. decision makers.
We invite you to participate in this rare opportunity to engage federal officials on issues impacting San Diego. This trip is a key opportunity to meet and network with other business leaders from our region. Join fellow civic leaders to advocate for our region and help San Diego businesses make our voice heard in Washington.
Registration includes all meetings, the opening reception, a welcome breakfast with a keynote speaker, two group breakfasts, two group lunches and an additional evening reception. The Chamber has arranged for discounted group hotel rates at The Madison - A Loews Hotel, as well as discounted airfare with American Airlines.
