Phil Blair, 2008 Chairman of the Board
Board Report At its meeting on Thursday, October 23, 2008, the Board of Directors took action to endorse or oppose a number of state and local ballot measures.
The Chamber opposes State Proposition 1-A, the high-speed passenger train bond act, because of the state's current economic condition, concern regarding project feasibility, an uncertain financial plan, and costs to the San Diego region.
Proposition 10 was also soundly rejected. The measure would obligate up to $5 billion in additional bonds and require payments of about $325 million per year.
The Chamber supports Proposition A, a measure to increase funding for regional fire protection.
The Board heard from Congresswoman Susan Davis on a number of national and local issues, primarily the economic crisis and use of San Diego's waterfront including the Navy Broadway Complex and the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal.
The meeting was hosted at Sempra Energy with complimentary parking provided by Ace Parking Management.
