Lunch of the Month: Dave & Buster’s

Whether you have a group of two or 2,000, Dave and Buster’s brings a fun ambience together with a great menu for a business gathering. Located in Mission Valley with ample parking and space for large parties, Dave and Buster’s is ideal for casual team meeting and corporate gatherings alike.

With a surprisingly diverse menu, our most recent visit to Dave and Buster’s was a fun and satisfying experience. My dining partners and I sampled the Thai chicken dippers appetizer, an ample portion of crispy chicken tenders tossed in a Thai Chile glaze and served with Asian slaw and two dipping sauces, a cool Asian-inspired cilantro sauce and a sweet & spicy sauce. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the appetizer, and it set the perfect tone for our lunch to follow.

For my entrée, I sampled the blackened tilapia, two lightly blackened tilapia fillets in a chardonnay wine sauce with citrus rice and sautéed green beans. One of the lighter menu offerings, it was a perfect size for lunch and pleasantly surprised my non-seafood eating colleagues. My two companions sampled the lunch portion of the Lacy's Chicken, a grilled chicken breasts topped with Boursin cheese and peppercorn sauce, as well as sautéed green beans and Dave & Buster’s signature "loaded" mashed potatoes; and the Hawaiian rib eye steak, a char grilled 12 ounce rib eye marinated and glazed with sweet Teriyaki sauce and also with “loaded” mashed potatoes and crispy fried onions.

Dave & Buster’s gets bonus points for generous portions and quick, friendly service. The informal atmosphere is best suited for casual lunches or if you have a large group.
