President's Update

By Ruben Barrales, President & Chief Executive Officer

By now, members should have received the latest edition of the Chamber's Business Action magazine, featuring a water glass on the front cover.  The feature story focuses on our region's serious water crisis, an issue on which the Chamber has taken a strong proactive role.  The article points out valuable water-saving tips for your business as well as an overview of Chamber initiatives and what is being done at the state level to address the crisis.

In other news, the Chamber recently hosted the Candidate Training School for Chamber members, along with San Diego State University, Lead San Diego and KUSI.  This event proved to be an exciting opportunity to provide our members with a window to the challenges and opportunities of public service.

The Candidate School supports the Chamber’s mission to encourage well-qualified candidates to consider serving in important elective offices at all levels of government.  In this interesting election year, we believe it is important to attract more members of San Diego’s business community into public service.  Our elected officials have an impact on issues important to the growth of our region’s economy.  Well-qualified candidates and elected officials are vital to support policies that help San Diego’s small businesses.
