President's Update

By Ruben Barrales, President & Chief Executive Officer

Today is an important day for San Diego.  We have the right and responsibility to vote for those who will hold the public trust in our city, county, state and federal governments.

As elected officials, those who win these elections will be making decisions related to taxes, regulations and rules that will impact San Diego’s businesses. Please take the time to vote and let your voice be heard.

During this primary election season, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce co-sponsored a debate with the candidates for San Diego City Attorney, and hosted a debate with the candidates for Mayor of the City of San Diego.

Both of those events were useful opportunities for our members to ask questions and hear directly from the candidates.  I hope to provide more opportunities for our members to meet and interact with candidates for the various public offices as we enter the November election season.

Please feel free to contact me at rbarrales@sdchamber.org with your suggestions regarding candidates you would like to hear from, and what questions you would like them to answer.

Finally, please remember, it’s not too late to vote.  The polls remain open until 8:00 p.m. this evening!
