President's Update

By Ruben Barrales, President & Chief Executive Officer

As the New Year takes shape, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce has an ambitious agenda for 2008.  You will notice an emphasis on our continuing efforts to support San Diego’s small businesses.

The Chamber will continue to be the premier business networking organization in the San Diego region.  As the largest chamber of commerce on the West Coast, we provide our members an unprecedented number of unique opportunities to interact with other successful companies in the region.

Please make sure to take advantage of our breakfasts, after-hours networking mixers, speakers, and other high profile events throughout the year, such as our “Get Connected” speaker series on Thursday, January 17, where attendees can learn promotional effectiveness, how to engage listeners, and how not to sound like a commercial.  Or, attend our Technology Committee Seminar in Friday, January 18, a unique session on how to make technology work for your company.

Our San Diego Good Government Series provides an opportunity for our members to interact with public officials from Sacramento and Washington DC.  Watch for invitations to these gatherings throughout the year.

In the area of public policy, the Chamber will continue to be an outspoken advocate for small business in San Diego.  Look for our work in the area of transportation, city government finances, water resources, emergency preparedness, and more.

I am looking forward to an exciting new year and look forward to seeing you in 2008.
