Membership Update

By Doug Holman, Vice President of Membership

I’m pleased to announce that Sherman Stocker, former Business Development Manager, was recently promoted to Corporate Relations Manager. Sherman, who joined the Chamber’s Membership department in July of 2007, will be working closely with San Diego's regional companies in his new role as part of the Corporate Relations Department. Sherman has been involved in the business community for over 25 years in roles such as Vice President at the Excel Tape Company, where he worked with training programs throughout the country, and as a Partner with San Diego Optical Repairs.  Sherman also volunteers with local youth sports teams, and currently is a Board Member of Rolando Little League, Patriot League, Knights Baseball League and volunteer umpires for District 33 in San Diego. We congratulate Sherman on his accomplishments, and look forward to seeing him flourish in his new role!

Sherman’s move to the Corporate Relations department exemplifies the Chambers renewed commitment to providing value and benefits to our members.  Customer service is a vital part of any membership-driven organization, and we will continue to strive to find new ways to both understand and meet the ever-changing needs of our members.

One significant change you can expect in 2008 is the revamping of our New Member Reception and Orientation. The improved format will devote significant time and resources to developing networking skills, including planning, goal setting and messaging techniques. By setting a strong networking foundation, we have learned that every one of our members wins.

All members are encouraged to participate in the New Members Reception, however long you have been an active member of the Chamber. Learn more or register here.

As always, the entire Chamber staff is here to assist with any questions you may have.  We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming February events.
