Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. (ECS) Announcing PowerPay! Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. (ECS) the leading demand response provider in North America, has recently announced the launch of PowerPay! California for the Summer 2009 period and beyond. ECS has paid over $80 million to participants in the last 8 years, and anticipates an allocation of a minimum of $15 million to PowerPay! participants for this year alone.
The PowerPay! Demand Response program pays larger electricity users for agreeing to reduce their electric consumption for a short time during periods of peak demand. Participants are typically asked to decrease their electricity usage for only a few hours a year. More than 5,000 facilities across North America currently participate in ECS’ demand response programs and combine to take over 1,500 MW of electric off the grid in response to an activated event where demand for electric outweighs the grid’s ability to supply it.
All types of facilities participate in PowerPay! including commercial and retail buildings, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and thousands of industrial entities. Because of the unique nature of the PowerPay! Program, specifically significant payments to participants, advance notification time to allow the facility to prepare to reduce their electric usage, no penalties for participation and infrequent calls for reduction, these various entities are able to utilize PowerPay! to supplement their fiscal bottom line while enhancing their reputation as a “green” company.
In addition to offering demand response services to individual companies, ECS also partners with companies who have an appetite to enhance their existing menu of products and services by offering our award-winning Demand Response programs to their own clients. Affiliate partners establish a revenue stream for themselves as well as the clients they educate and who enroll in PowerPay! programs. ECS will work with your business to customize a relationship that works best within your business model.
ECS offers demand response services in markets across North America including California, New York, New England, Texas, Kansas City, MO, the PJM territory and Ontario, Canada. ECS is focused on the industrial/manufacturing sector, but other larger electricity users such as hotels, colleges, data centers, water districts and many other facilities participate as well. Notable clients include Alcoa, International Paper, Constellation Wines and General Motors.
