Shen Yun Spectacular Show

Discover the Dance and Music That Have Won the Hearts of Millions

Inspired by the rich spirit of a 5,000-year artistic tradition of China that thrived before decades of suppression by the Chinese communist state, Shen Yun brings to life classical Chinese dance and music in a gloriously colorful and exhilarating show.

Currently part of a part of a 30-country world tour and consisting of three dance companies and three orchestras, Shen Yun has performed over 300 shows each year, touring more than 100 cities in five continents. It has graced the world’s most prestigious stages, from Radio City Music Hall in New York, Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington DC to Palais de Congrès in Paris and RoyalFestival Hall in London.

From “Legend of the Brush” illustrating the rich lore surrounding the origins of writing in China, to “Welcoming Spring,” fan dance personifying China’s folk dance tradition, from vigorous Tibetan “Dance of the Snow-Capped Mountain” to skillful “Mongolian Bowl Dance” with bowls carefully balanced atop dancers’ heads, Shen Yun is “a visually dazzling tour of 5,000 years of Chinese history and culture.” (San Francisco Chronicle) “It transported me back in time, in a sense of a beautiful, wonderful, quintessential Chinese culture… It was so marvellous,” said Prof. Cyril Dabydeen, an award-winning writer and critic.

Each year, Shen Yun premieres an entirely new program of dances, songs, and musical scores, accompanied by a live orchestra, expressed in both Chinese and English. Richard Connema, critic for Talk’in Broadway who has reviewed over 3,000 to 4,000 shows since 1942, rated Shen Yun as “a five-star production.” He said, “I've never seen anything like that. I mean I've seen enough Broadway shows and still cannot compare to what I saw tonight. The best word to use is mind-blowing..." WNYC raved, “Superb! Every performance was stunning.” MSNBC News recommended it as “the #1 way for New York families to celebrate the New Year!” Discover for yourself why Shen Yun is critically acclaimed as “breathtaking,” “mind-blowing,” “inspiring,” “brilliant,” and “glorious” Dec. 26-31 at San Diego Civic Theatre.
