Port of San Diego Green Port Program

The Port of San Diego was formed in 1962 to serve as a steward for San Diego Bay, managing its valuable social, economic and environmental assets. Today, San Diego Bay is a thriving natural resource that supports our regional economy and enviable quality of life. Achieving a balance among
the many uses of the Bay requires a long-term comprehensive approach to environmental management.

The Green Port Program unifies the Port’s environmental sustainability goals in six key areas. As part of the program, the Port sets measurable goals and evaluates progress in each area on an annual basis. The program continues the Port’s existing environmental efforts and expands these efforts through new programs and initiatives. Click here to learn more about the program's goals and fiscal year 2009/2010 initiatives.
