dk3 studios LLC is pleased to announce the opening of its new rental photography studio in Mira Mesa. For just $25 per hour, photographers have access to a private 1100 square foot photography studio with a built in 16’ tall by 16’ wide cyclorama, or “cyc,” wall, ten studio strobes including light modifiers as well as a 46” LCD monitor for tethering.  dk3 studios also offers a comfortable dressing room where models, makeup artists and stylists can prepare for a photo shoot.
 
The studio has attracted the interest of companies with greatly reduced marketing budgets but who are still in need of professional product images to promote their products.  In addition to local clients, photographers from major department stores and apparel companies have rented dk3 studios to photograph products made here in southern California.
 
“I wanted to create an affordable space having equipment that is high end enough to meet the needs of demanding professional photographers while maintaining a welcoming environment for photographers who are new to studio photography, “ commented Dave King, president of dk3 studios LLC.
 
 In September 2009, King left his position as Vice President of a public company to create an affordable rental photo studio in San Diego.  After becoming frustrated with rental fees starting at $100 per hour, he decided it was time to start a no-frills but welcoming studio in the San Diego market.   
 
In addition to top notch photo studio equipment, a powerful sound system and LED club lighting can create an environment that is model and photographer friendly.  Amateur and budding professional photographers who are regular clients at the studio include a lawyer who does part-time product photography and a philanthropist whose subjects include notable authors and actors.  
 
Many dk3 studios clients are advanced amateurs who do fashion and glamour photography using local models and makeup artists.  The studio offers easy online reservations making it easy for photographers to coordinate booking studio time with the various individuals involved.
 
“It is a rewarding experience to watch a first-time studio photographer get professional images during their first ever studio shoot,” Mr. King commented.
