Known as America’s premier spring regatta, the Crew Classic began in 1973 and is now the largest regatta in the world exclusively for eight-oared rowing shells. In 1975 the Copley Cup was established and quickly became coveted as the grand prize in the nation for men’s collegiate crews. Winners of The Copley Cup trophy include Harvard, Washington, Penn, Cal, UCLA and Stanford. The Jessop-Whittier Cup is the highest prize for women, and winners include Washington, Cal, Michigan, USC, and many other exceptional universities. Thousands of spectators watch the 2000-meter races on the popular Junbotron, but now thousands more watch the races via a live streaming webcast on the national broadcast on ESPNU.
