The Adoptions program at Helen Woodward Animal Center finds homes for over 2,500 orphaned animals per year (including 80% transferred from around the country), while Pet Encounter Therapy (PET) provides the unconditional love of animals to over 20,000 people in institutional settings per year. The Center also offers a Therapeutic Riding program for children and adults, providing both physical and cognitive challenges during weekly therapy sessions with specially trained equine therapists. The Center’s large animal hospital ensures the health and well-being of horses from all over Southern California.

Helen Woodward Animal Center is a nonprofit organization that provides for the care and adoption of homeless animals, as well as animal-centered therapeutic programs for people with special needs. The Center has been in San Diego County since 1972 and serves over 10,000 animals and 50,000 people annually. 
Helen Woodward Animal Center also has an AniMeals program, providing homebound seniors with pet food and supplies for their companion animals so they can keep their best friend, and a humane education program that reaches out to children all over San Diego to teach them compassion, empathy, and respect for all forms of life. Every other month, Helen Woodward Animal Center reaches out to other animal organizations across the country and around the world with valuable three-day trainings on “The Business of Saving Lives” to teach them how to operate their organization as business. The Center also offers a top-rated boarding facility and a small animal hospital located on campus.
