San Diego Community College District:  Our Reliable Higher Education Partner

Looking for a qualified employee?

The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) is the region’s leading provider of workforce training and the starting place for many residents seeking a college degree.  The district educates approximately 100,000 students within the City of San Diego and more than 75,000 members of the U.S. military stationed throughout the nation.

Each year, over 10,000 classes are offered at our three local credit institutions, City, Mesa and Miramar colleges and through our non-credit Continuing Education campuses in subject areas as diverse as Biotechnology and Nursing to English Composition and Business.

The Continuing Education program is located at six campuses throughout the city and is the place to improve basic skills including English and Math.  It is also the place to jumpstart your career with advanced programs such as web and multimedia development, among many other new or mid-career training opportunities.

The SDCCD supports the San Diego economy.

The cumulative annual impact on the San Diego region’s economy by those who have earned degree credits at the SDCCD is about $4 billion annually.  The SDCCD is San Diego’s 13th largest employer, providing jobs to approximately 5,800 San Diegans. An additional 2,000 employees have been hired by the 352 construction contractors in the district’s $1.555 billion dollar construction bond programs, and 97 percent of those workers reside within San Diego County. Projects starting construction in 2010 will generate nearly $110 million in new contracts and approximately 1200 new jobs, which will also provide an investment into the local workforce.

The district’s annual budget is approximately $600 million and it is rated AA+ by Standard and Poor’s for the strength of its financial management.  AA+ is the highest rating of any California community college.

More information about education and training opportunities at City, Mesa and Miramar colleges and the Continuing Education campuses of the San Diego Community College District can be found at www.sdccd.edu or by calling 619-388-6914.
